Client Spotlight: Alicia
Today’s client spotlight is on Alicia Foster! She’s a Form and Function badass who is always down to hit a tough workout (as long as she gets to complain a little).
Q: Alicia, thanks for doing this. Let’s jump right in. Tell everybody how long you’ve been training with Form and Function.
A: Since December 2023. So at this point it’s been about 8 months.
Q: I love it. It’s been a great 8 months and you’ve made a lot of progress. But 8 months is long enough for most people to get bored and demotivated with their fitness. So what gets you excited to train?
A: I’m really motivated by my health right now, so I stay in it by knowing that I’m going to benefit in a lot of ways from working out. It’s not just physical. I sleep better when I’m working out consistently, I feel better mentally, and of course I love the changes I see in the mirror.
Q: Sometimes the mirror can really keep us focused. No shame in that. Where would you like to be in your fitness journey in December 2024? That will be a full year of working with Form and Function.
A: I would like to be a lot stronger, and lose some more weight. Definitely need to keep strengthening muscles that have pretty much been asleep for several years. But working out with you has also shown me that I have a lot of improvement to make with my cardio, so that’s the biggest priority.
Q: What’s your favorite exercise we’ve done together?
A: Probably thrusters. I love the challenge. I used to do a lot of running so it’s nice to switch it up and do something different.
Q: Thrusters are nasty. Most people hate them.
A: I hate them too. But nothing gets me out of breath like a set of thrusters. Except burpees.
Q: What’s your favorite part about having a Form and Function trainer?
A: The accountability is definitely the best part. Having a trainer with so much knowledge about working out and the body makes me feel a lot more comfortable trying new things.
Q: Have you ever been nervous to try a new movement with me?
A: Yes. Every time. But I know you’ve got my back. I also like that we talk about diet a lot too. And sleep and stress management.
Q: We focus on the whole package.
A: Exactly. Holistic health coaching.
Q: Something like that. Is there anything else you want to share with everyone?
A: Before I met you I wasn’t sure how I felt about having a male trainer. But you were really kind and genuine so it made me feel a lot better. People sometimes ask me if it feels weird having a guy as my trainer but I’m just like oh you don’t know him. There’s literally no reason to feel uncomfortable around Daniel.
Q: That’s sweet. I’m glad you feel that way. Last question. What’s in your gym bag?
A: Water, electrolytes, hair tie, headband, some kind of caffeine or pre-workout, and my Airpods. Oh, and micellar water.
